What’s New at SMHR 2019?

Panel Sessions

There will be two Moderated Q&A Panel sessions that will involve a brief presentation by each speaker followed by a moderated Q&A session with interactive audience participation.

Day 1:Models of Psychopathology Panel”: Professors Bruce Cuthbert (NIMH), Patrick McGorry (Orygen, The National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health), Melissa Green (NeuRA).

Day 3:Big Issues in Mental Health Panel”: Professor Shitij Kapur (University of Melbourne), Georgie Harman (Beyond Blue), Michelle Blanchard (SANE), Gabby Sheehan (One in Five).

SMHR Project Pitch Session

With the goal of fostering new collaborations and supporting early career researchers, SMHR will be providing the opportunity for registered delegates with similar interests to be linked together at the Conference to create a possible project idea. A Meet and Greet Session will be held on Day 2 of the Conference for these collaborations to evolve.

Following the Meet and Greet Session, groups can nominate to ‘pitch’ their new project idea at a dedicated Project Pitch Session on Day 3 of the Conference. The audience will judge each pitch using live polling via the Conference App and the two pitches with the highest scores will receive $5,000 seed funding from SMHR.

Further details on how to apply to be part of the Pitch process will be available soon on the website!

Consumer Involvement

The Society is for the first time implementing a consumer participation strategy for the SMHR Conference 2019. Consumers are being included as part of the the Organising Committee, the abstract review process and Consumer Research as a submission theme.
